Early Childhood Wellness Liaison

Position Title: Wellness Liaison 

Status: Full-time; exempt status 

Reports to: Early Childhood Consultation Program Manager 

Supervises:  N/A 

Summary: Works with Head Start families to foster strong school-family-community relationships and ensure families have access to resources that promote child development and healthy parent-child relationships. Works with Head Start staff to build interagency relationships, mediate conflict, and promote staff wellness. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:     

  • Works in collaboration with the Head Start SIA (wellness) team to implement staff wellness initiatives.
  • Provide support to CSB staff with recognizing and managing symptoms of vicarious trauma, burnout, stress, etc.
  • Provide trainings and groups as needed to all levels of CSB
  • Support staff in navigating and mediating relationships
  • Coordinate and facilitate Parent Cafes to support and encourage family engagement and community.
  • Attend and participate in monthly Head Start Policy Council meetings..
  • Works in collaboration with the ECC Team to develop and implement parent meetings and trainings.
  • Develop and provide training on understanding trauma and the impact of trauma and stress on children for Head Start families.
  • Remain informed of community resources across Contra Costa County. Compile    and distribute local resources to Head Start families as needed.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork in accordance with established timeframes.
  • Participates in supervision, staff training, and collaborative meetings with internal/external providers, and other meetings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Minimum Requirements: 1.  Bachelor’s degree in human/child development, social welfare, psychology, counseling, or a related field AND formal training in trauma-informed practices. 

2.  Five years’ experience working with young children in an early learning setting, preferably as a teacher or mental health consultant. 

3.  Must submit to fingerprinting and be cleared by the California Department of Justice and the FBI for criminal and child abuse background checks. 

Physical Requirements: Employee must be able to lift, grasp, and hold a 50-lb. dynamic load; must be able to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, and crouch without physical limitations. Must be able to quickly rise from sitting position on chairs and floor, demonstrating rapid motor movement and responses. Must be able to work effectively in a high-noise, rapid-paced environment.   

Preferred Qualifications: 

1.  Fluency in both Spanish and English. 

2. Two years’ experience working with young children who exhibit social-emotional and/or behavioral challenges. 

3. Prior experience working with parents/caregivers OR running groups/parent cafes. 4. Master’s degree in infant mental health, social welfare, psychology, or counseling 

Salary Range: $70,000 to $75,000
