Parent and Other Caregiver Services
We serve mothers, fathers, and other primary caregivers, in English and Spanish:
- Grandmothers, grandfathers, aunts and uncles, great aunts and uncles, older siblings, and other family members caring for young children
- Foster parents, official and unofficial
- Domestic partners of parents of young children
Primary caregivers may be any age, ethnicity, national origin, religion, or sexual orientation.
For families involved with many systems, Wraparound services
Families of infants or young children are sometimes involved with several systems, such as social services, schools, and other agencies. A family needing help coordinating all of these services may be eligible for wraparound team services. A wraparound team can be developed with the family’s help to bring workers from different systems together with friends of the family to find solutions that are acceptable to the family and in the best interest of the child.
For fathers, Time for Dad (English-speaking) and Ser Papa (Spanish-speaking)
Fathers, grandfathers, and father figures who want to learn more about parenting and build better relationships with their children can join one of these groups. They meet one evening a week at our Family Center. Both groups are led by experienced child/parent therapists who are fathers.
If you are interested, call Early Childhood at 510.412.9200 and say that you would like to join. Both fathers' groups are also available to fathers who are working on reunification with their children. Ask your Contra Costa County social worker about this group.
